Finally moving forward in the Design world...

These words are truly something to live by. My favorite quote from the brilliant Jessica Hische and illustrated by Chris Piascik.

So I have BIG news. I landed a design internship at Ruche! One of my favorite online boutiques. I've been a fan for years and it's surreal that I will get to work there as an intern, and hopefully become a part time employee. I also have a new client. I will be designing a wedding blog and identity, something I am VERY interested in. It seems like all my design goals are coming into place. I had to say no to another paid internship (that would most likely turn into a paid full-time position) because I really felt more drawn to Ruche. It is completely my aesthetic and style (both design and fashion-wise). I was feeling down after graduating because I've been at the same internship 3 months longer than planned, and with the new year coming. Now that things seem to be falling into place, I can't help but look forward to the new year!

Summer Wedding at Faulkner Winery

Jessica and Ryan's wedding on Sunday was too beautiful for words. Having a wedding at a winery is a wonderful idea. Beautiful outdoor ceremony. The open wine bar, photobooth and dancing fun made for a wonderful evening. I believe it was the first time I had ever slow danced with the boyfriend of 2 years. Glad I got to see some CPP friends, including Devin, Pat, Becca, & Natasha as well :)

All work and no play? No way!

So I've been happy at my internship. I've been working on lots of various projects. This is one of my favorites. I love when I'm required to put my Illustrator/InDesign/Photoshop skills to good use! Friday is photoshoot day. I'm pretty excited!

More Graduation Madness.

I cannot get over the fact that graduation is over. I wasn't aware of how much I'd miss the experience only days later when looking at photos. It just makes me so sad to think that I won't be seeing so many of these people ever again or as often as I'd like. I'm definitely going to miss my friends from Cal Poly, the professors, the experience...the whole darn thing. After all, Cal Poly is where I not only created some amazing friendships and hard work, it's also where I met my amazing boyfriend who I love and was reminded that meeting new incredible people and building friendships is still possible. Everyone, the professors and students, I have met and bonded with have impacted my life greatly and I will never forget all of them. So many memories in those hallways. I'm also grateful for everyone who shared this milestone with me, especially my family (I had a HUGE guest list) and my best friends Christina and Almara. It means a lot that you guys showed up to the ceremony and that each of you were present for either the dinner or the bar. Life is slowly moving on. It's sad but I'm very excited about what lies ahead.

PANTONE COMMENCEMENT!

What an amazing graduation day! It was simply...surreal. I still can't believe I graduated yesterday with so many amazing people. The pantone cap was a success! (as you can see above). We were the hit of the graduation. So many funny and memorable moments. The dinner at Lucille's with my family, boyfriend, and Rocky and her family was so much fun and great too. I'm glad I got to celebrate with them all. And thanks to all the people who showed up at the bar last night, you guys all made it into what otherwise would be a weird bar outing surrounded by elder weirdos haha. I had such a great time. I'm glad everyone who was part of my day and night yesterday was involved. You guys truly made June 10, 2011 a day I will remember for the rest of my life.

Growing Up.

A detailed photo of my complete Graduation Announcement/Invitation design :)

So I graduate tomorrow. It's highly nerve-wracking but exciting at the same time. I landed myself an internship for a purse designer. It's a graphic design internship but I get to assist with some fashion-related projects and create some textile designs that may be used for purse production! I'm very excited. I was hired on the spot. She said she interviewed many people and has been intern hunting for months but didn't want to hire anyone until she saw my portfolio. She wanted to hire me instantly but wanted to meet me in person first. I'm excited. I start next Wednesday :)

Also, many happenings occurring this weekend/week. I graduate tomorrow, shall have dinner at Lucille's w/ the family, and a night out at The Edison with friends. Saturday is a friend/fellow graduate's graduation party, then later that night the boyfriend and I drive down to SD for a best friend's UCSD graduation. Very excited for the both of us :) Tuesday is a long awaited LACMA trip for the Tim Burton exhibit. Then Wednesday I start the internship! It's only 3 months, but I hopefully will obtain some great industry experience. It's located in a lovely and quaint apartment-turned-office. Gorgeous space. Excited to be working there. I met the designer and her graphic designer/assistant that I shall be working with.

I'm also excited for other exciting events such as Comic Con! and going out to some Jazz Bars I've been wanting to visit for some time now. The boyfriend's cousin is in a jazz band and gave me a great list of bars to hit up. I also definitely want to go to Disneyland for my birthday (not til late September, but planning ahead is always a great idea.) What else...oh yes, Art in the Streets exhibit at MOCA shall be fun. I'll throw in a Dodger game somewhere in there. Many food trips. I had some delicious Korean BBQ for $9.99 with the boyfriend today in Rowland Heights. Amazing. I was stuffed. Recently made a second trip to Four Leaf for Crepes. That was delicious of course.

That's all for now. Hopefully I'll be obtaining a gym membership in the near future as well. Now that my step class is over I really need to continue working out for my health and the bikini season! Which reminds me, many beach trips as well! I also simply cannot wait to get some much needed summer reading done. I've already lined up a list of great books and graphic novels and such, including "This is a book" by Demetri Martin, "Moonwalking with Einstein" by Joshua Foer, and "We3" by Grant Morrison (which unfortunately isn't re-released until August). Cheers!

Eat. Sleep. Design. Repeat.

Mock-up on my current portfolio project. Super happy with it. Now I need to print all three designs. Gosh this week is such a killer. Also need to print my kinesiology homework and e-mail a mini-portfolio pdf today. Is it graduation day yet?

Graduation is fast approaching...

So, two of my posters got into the 2D3D show!!!!! You have no idea how excited I am about this. Whether I do Industry Night or not, I will have work on display. I get to invite friends and family to see it displayed and get a taste of what my school life is all about. I feel very accomplished and now I have SOMETHING design-related to put onto my resume, and hopefully more to come after I graduate. All stress aside (bank switching, tuition issues) life is going swell.

Mitch's Surprise Birthday Dinner

So clearly, I've been meaning to get back into my photo blogging habits. I just love capturing memories and sharing them. Yesterday was Mitch (the boyfriend)'s birthday, so I planned a Surprise dinner and everyone who RSVPed showed up! Thanks to everyone who made Mitch's dinner a success. The food was DELICIOUS and the company was simply wonderful. I love all of you and Mitch thanks you too!
